Peer Supporter Training

The following scenarios are designed to help you practice your text-based peer support skills. The computer will act as the person seeking support and you should reply as the peer supporter. Personalized feedback is available after 8 exchanges.

Privacy notice: This platform uses an AI model (Anthropic Claude) as a practice tool and incorporates a suggested peer support rubric to provide feedback. This tool is designed to facilitate learning, but is not intended to replace the nuanced human connections that are essential to peer support. It is important to seek out feedback from course instructors or your peers if you are unsure about some of the exchanges or feedback provided. Your conversations are never saved: the messages you exchange are discarded when your session ends, and no one at McMaster can read them. Your scores and written feedback are saved to your own account so you can revisit them under Your Practices. Ask questions if you are unsure.
